Comic Con Liverpool returned on Friday 6th March 2020 with an all-star guest line-up.
Monopoly Events are renowned for their guest reunions.
At previous events, guests have included The Lost Boys Cast at For the Love of Horror, the Police Academy cast at Comic Con Manchester and Power Rangers from across multiple series at Comic Con Liverpool 2019.
Comic Con Liverpool 2020 was no different, with not one, not two, but six cast reunions at this phenomenal event.
On Friday, fans gathered to meet guests including Fresh Prince of Bel Air’s Ross Bagley and Karyn Parsons.
This was Ross’ first visit to a UK convention and he couldn’t wait to meet fans throughout the weekend:
“I’m really excited. It’s my first time in the UK and my first time in Liverpool, so I’m having a blast so far”
Ross is also an incredible DJ. As part of Comic Con Liverpool, Ross performed a DJ set as part of the official After Party, held at Camp and Furnace on Saturday 7th March.
Asking about the set-list, he described it as a mix of classic music and contemporary hits from across the world:
“I like to cater to the crowd as much as possible. Obviously house music always has a good beat, nineties hip-hop which goes with the Fresh Prince of Bel-Air Theme at the convention and I also take the set to current music that’s popular globally. I’m looking forward to seeing the reaction and seeing folks there”.
At Comic Con Liverpool 2020, Ross was reunited with his Fresh Prince of Bel-Air co-star Karyn Parsons, who starred as Hilary Banks in the show.
Generations of fans love the The Fresh Prince of Bel-Air, and watched it when it was originally aired or through re-runs on television and streaming services.
Talking to Karyn at Comic Con Liverpool 2020, she reflected on the show’s legacy and the impact it had on so many fans:
“I couldn’t have imagined any of the impact that the show would have. I loved playing her [Hilary Banks] and the cast and I had fun from the very beginning. I definitely had a great time playing her and I couldn’t have imagined that not only decades later, and thousands of miles across the world, that the show still connects with people”.
Asking about the reunion with Ross at the convention, Karyn explained that the cast of Fresh Prince of Bel-Air are like a family:
“I see a lot of the cast like Tatyana and Alfonso, Daphne and Will and we’re all in contact. It’s like a family. We just pick up where we left off”.
In addition to this reunion, fans could meet actors from the American Pie Film Series including Chris Klein, Shannon Elizabeth, Chris Owen and Thomas Nicholas.
Sam Jones, Brian Blessed and Melody Anderson also met fans throughout the weekend, as they celebrated the 40th anniversary of sci-fi classic Flash Gordon.
The reunions also included Noah Hathaway and Tami Stronach from The Neverending Story, voice actors Peter Cullen and Frank Welker from the Transformers series and Melissa Joan Heart, Jenna Leigh Green and Beth Broderick from Sabrina the Teenage Witch!
Jenna Leigh Green starred as Libby in Sabrina the Teenage Witch, a show which I and many fans grew up watching.
Looking ahead to the weekend, she expressed her excitement to meet generations of fans at the convention:
“It makes me smile. That’s the best way to describe it. I never thought I’d be part of something that was so relevant to its time, but still remained so relevant to an entirely new generation. I get messages all the time from people who say that they grew up with the show and that they’re excited to introduce their children to the show. It’s really cool. I feel it’s important to be a part of something like that”.
She had already loved meeting fans on the Friday of Comic Con Liverpool 2020 and expressed her thanks to those she had already met:
“The convention is exciting, entertaining and sweet. Some of the fans that I have met so far today have been so kind and so sweet. You’re such lovely people!”.
With so many reunions at Comic Con Liverpool 2020, we cannot wait to see what reunions Monopoly Events will organise next!
