Classic Zombie Film Night of the Living Dead is to be recreated on stage at the Liverpool Playhouse Theatre.

Imitating the Dog will recreate the film shot-by-shot, in their production Night of the Living Dead: Remix.

George A. Romero’s 1968 Night of the Living Dead is credited with reimagining the horror film and using the genre to comment on social issues of the time.

Andrew Quick, co-director and artistic director of Imitating the Dog said:

“Looking at the state of the world today, it seems appropriate that we are going back to this seminal story, the original zombie movie. Rehearsals have been great fun so far and it’s amazing how scary and relevant Romero’s 60s vision still seems”.

During the production, the performers will use their skill and ingenuity to recreate the film live onstage.

Russ Streiner, who produced and starred as Johnny in the original film, added that:

“This retelling goes back to the roots of where ‘Night’ started with experimental ideas and a new imagining of the story – this time coupled with the dynamic of live actors performing to a live audience”.

Night of the Living Dead: Remix visits the Liverpool Playhouse Theatre from 18th – 22nd February 2020.

Tickets are on sale now.
